Download Website 10 Jul 19:17 zrep 0.8.2

Screenshot

zrep provides an easy-to-use program to manage zfs filesystem replication and failover. No configuration files are required. The program is developed under Solaris, but may work with any up to date zfs implementation. The executable is a single script. Initialization does a full data copy, but subsequent syncs are incrementals. It uses internal locking to make sure there is no danger of overlap if you just shove it in cron to run every minute. Design target is more "near-time replication", since the sync can be run every minute or more. However, it could conceivably be used for "backup" purposes as well.

Release Notes: This release adds a fix so that volumes get initialized properly and optimizes initialization in general, so that up-to-date ZFS has one less step.

No download Website 10 Jul 12:40 Apache MetaModel (incubation) 3.0

Screenshot

With MetaModel, you use a type-safe SQL-like API for querying any datastore. It is a data access framework providing a common interface for exploration and querying of different types of datastores. It isn't a data mapping framework. Instead, it emphasizes abstraction of metadata and the ability to add data sources at runtime, making MetaModel great for generic data processing applications, but less so for applications modeled around a particular domain.

Release Notes: This release provided full support for CRUD operations on JDBC databases, CSV files, Excel spreadsheets, and NoSQL stores. CREATE TABLE, DROP TABLE, UPDATE, and DELETE FROM operations were added. Support for LIST and MAP column types (common in NoSQL stores) was added. Awareness of primary key columns was implemented (especially useful for UPDATE operations). Support for plain Java collections as datastores (LINQ style) was added. Full support for CouchDB databases was provided. Several maturing improvements were made in the API's syntax and semantics.

Download Website 10 Jul 01:07 Bcfg2 1.2.3

Screenshot

Bcfg2 helps system administrators produce a consistent, reproducible, and verifiable description of their environment, and offers visualization and reporting tools to aid in day-to-day administrative tasks. It is based on an operational model in which the specification can be used to validate and optionally change the state of clients, but in a feature unique to bcfg2 the client's response to the specification can also be used to assess the completeness of the specification. Using this feature, bcfg2 provides an objective measure of how good a job an administrator has done in specifying the configuration of client systems. Bcfg2 is therefore built to help administrators construct an accurate, comprehensive specification. Bcfg2 has been designed from the ground up to support gentle reconciliation between the specification and current client states. It is designed to gracefully cope with manual system modifications. Bcfg2 can also enable the construction of complex change management and deployment strategies.

Release Notes: This is primarily a bugfix release, including a fix for a major security hole in the Trigger plugin which could allow an attacker who had gained root access to a Bcfg2 client to gain access to your Bcfg2 server by using a malformed UUID (CVE-2012-3366). It is recommended that everyone update to 1.2.3 immediately, or disable the Trigger plugin.
