Gfarm is a distributed filesystem, generally used for large scale cluster computing. It's implemented in userland, and can be mounted by FUSE. It utilizes locality of a file to access a data node, and supports Globus GSI for Wide Area Network. Users can explicitly control file replica location on Gfarm. Gfarm can be used as an alternative storage system to HDFS for Hadoop, Samba, MPI-IO, and GridFTP. Monitoring via ZABBIX and Ganglia is also supported.

Release Notes: This release adds gfs_seekdir() and gfs_telldir() APIs, which are needed by the newest gfarm-samba plugin, and fixes many problems regarding the hot standby metadata server. It is strongly recommended to upgrade to this version.

Cryptodev-linux is a Linux kernel module implementation of the OpenBSD cryptodev userspace API (/dev/crypto). The Linux crypto API is being used as the backend and thus requires no dependencies other than a stock Linux kernel.

Release Notes: This release added support for authenticated encryption, as well as authentication and encryption with a single ioctl() for TLS, and SRTP. Indicators were added for hardware accelerated ciphers.

Liblouis is a Braille translator and back-translator. It features support for computer and literary braille, supports contracted and uncontracted translation for very many languages, and has support for hyphenation. New languages can be added easily through tables that support a rule based or dictionary based approach. It also includes tools for testing and debugging tables. Liblouis also supports math Braille (Nemeth and Marburg). The formatting of Braille is provided by the companion project liblouisxml. Liblouis has features to support screen-reading programs.

Release Notes: This release features new tables for Czech hyphenation, Spanish grade 1, Tamil, and generic Farsi grade 1. It also has improvements to the Braille tables for Portuguese grade 1, Icelandic 8-dot, uncontracted Spanish computer braille, Norwegian, French comp6 and comp8 Braille, Romanian, Generic Arabic Grade 1, and Czech. An Emacs mode for editing Braille table files was added.

GNU parallel is a shell tool for executing jobs in parallel locally or using remote computers. A job is typically a single command or a small script that has to be run for each of the lines in the input. The typical input is a list of files, a list of hosts, a list of users, a list of URLs, or a list of tables. If you use xargs today you will find GNU parallel very easy to use, as GNU parallel is written to have the same options as xargs. If you write loops in shell, you will find GNU parallel may be able to replace most of the loops and make them run faster by running several jobs in parallel. GNU parallel makes sure output from the commands is the same output as you would get had you run the commands sequentially. This makes it possible to use output from GNU parallel as input for other programs.

Release Notes: --workdir . will use the current working directory. If the current working directory is beneath your home directory, the value . is treated as the relative path to your home directory. This means that if your home directory is different on remote computers (e.g. if your login is different), the relative path will still be relative to your home directory. A texinfo file is now generated from the POD file using pod2texi.

JTcl is an implementation of Tcl (Tool Command Language) written in Java that implements a large extent of Tcl 8.4 syntax and commands, limited only by API restrictions of the Java Virtual Machine. It is based on the Jacl interpreter from the TclJava project.

Release Notes: Three new commands have been added: lassign, lrepeat, and lreverse. A new library module was added for manipulating ZIP files. A new command utility builds stand-alone application JAR files. Two bugs that previously caused exceptions while reading from a socket and globbing files were fixed.
