vitunes is a curses-based music player and playlist manager whose goals are a minimalistic appearance, strong vi-like bindings, and quick playlist creation/management. It does not strive to be a full-blown media player, but rather a full-blown media indexer and playlist manager. It uses MPlayer to support a wide range of media formats. It also makes use of TagLib for metadata extraction from many common formats.
Release Notes: This new version includes support for undo/redo, custom keybindings, a slew of new colorable elements, better synchronization between vitunes and mplayer, and a host of bug improvements. With this release, vitunes now contains all of the features that the author originally envisioned.
Paludis is a package manager for Gentoo (and derived distributions) and Exherbo. It consists of a core library and a number of console-based clients. Package formats supported include Gentoo ebuilds and kdebuilds (as defined by the Package Manager Specification), the Exherbo exheres-0 format, and various miscellaneous utility pseudo-formats for managing accounts, unwritten and unavailable packages, and packages for which no package exists.
Release Notes: EAPI 4 is enabled. A new "cave" subcommand, "digest", was added. A new "cave print-unused-distfiles" option, "--include", was added. Updates now work correctly again.
The ESP Package Manager (EPM) is a simple tool that generates software and patch distributions in various formats, including AT&T software packages ("pkg") used by Solaris, Debian ("dpkg"), HP-UX software packages ("swinstall" or "depot"), IRIX Software Manager ("inst" or "tardist"), portable (installation and removal scripts with tar files), and Red Hat Package Manager ("RPM").
Release Notes: This version fixes several AIX, BSD, HP-UX, Linux, and Solaris packaging issues and adds support for LSB and signed RPM package generation.
Nsound is a C++ library and Python module for audio synthesis that features dynamic digital filters. Nsound lets you easily shape waveforms and write to disk or plot them. Nsound aims to be as powerful as Csound but easy to use.
Release Notes: A User's Guide and a few more filters were added. Generators now support chorus and syncing, like an analog synth. Small improvements were made to the SCons build system. Some bugs were fixed.
Webalizer Xtended is a fork of Webalizer and contains a great number of feature improvements, such as monthly statistics for all "HTTP 404 Not Found" errors (including the number of these errors and the corresponding URLs) and additional configuration file keywords. Furthermore, all colors of the statistics can be defined by the user. Webalizer Xtended also fixes several (security-related) bugs in the original Webalizer code and contains the "Apache mod_logio" patch to generate more reliable traffic statistics.
Release Notes: Webalizer V2.23-03 is now used as the patch base. Some minor HTML bugs and language typos were fixed and several constants were increased.
The massXpert software package is a mass spectrometry environment for linear (bio-)polymers. It inherits all the innovations of GNU polyxmass. It allows the detailed definition of new polymer chemistries in the XpertDef module. These chemistry definitions are then used in the desktop calculator-like mass calculator (XpertCalc) and in the sophisticated polymer sequence editor and (bio-)chemical/mass spectrometric simulations module (XpertEdit). Available simulations include polymer and monomer chemical modifications, polymer sequence cleavage, gas-phase fragmentation, m/z ratio calculations, and more.

Forban is a P2P file sharing application for link-local and local area networks. Forban works independently from the Internet and uses only the local area capabilities to announce, discover, search, or share files. Forban relies on HTTP and is opportunistic, meaning that it replicates any files of interest seen in its proximity. The Forban protocols are minimalistic to ease the production of other implementations.
Release Notes: Forban can now be used out of the box without any configuration files. A proof-of-concept Forban client in Bash has been added. Configuration file parsing has been improved to better handle errors.
PasswordStore is a password storage manager. It stores passwords for users in an AES encrypted database.

PLATYPUX is a Linux distribution which uses methods from LFS and BLFS (Linux From Scratch). You can set up the system on a PC, a laptop, or a USB key. Its graphical interface is implemented with XFCE. It's easily transportable. Tools like LibreOffice, Gimp, Xsane, SRWare Iron, Inkscape, OpenShot, Xfburn, Peazip, and JavaMPlayer are already installed.

Chaosmap is an information gathering tool and DNS, Whois, and Web server scanner. It can be used to look up DNS names with a dictionary with or without using a salt. Salting for DNS means it will append numbers from 1-9 to the name in the dictionary with or without a - and _ or a leading 0. Salting for Web stuff will try double slashes and some directory traversal tricks. It performs reverse DNS lookups of a whole IP range (with optional Whois lookup) and dictionary scans for hidden paths on one Web server or a range of IP addresses. Optionally you can encode a path with URL encoding use Google dict lookup mode to find the path on Google and only query the Webserver if there are no search results. It can also extract email addresses from domains using a Google search or perform a list of Google Hacking queries on your domain.

Heapkeeper is a program to store, modify, and display email archives, especially mailing list archives. "Modifying" means that the archive is not really an archive, rather it is a living document like a wiki: it can be modified (and hopefully improved) by collaborators.
Release Notes: The code was refactored. The JsTestDriver unit testing tool is now used.
Lout is a document formatting system which reads a high-level description of a document similar in style to LaTeX and produces a PostScript file which can be printed on most laser printers and graphic display devices. Plain text and PDF output are also available. Lout is inherently multilingual and adding new languages is easy.

FxMovieManager is a file manager which can display thumbnails of movie files. It can also manage a playlist of movies and act as a simple front-end to MPlayer.
Release Notes: The front-end to MPlayer (the application minimized) has been improved: the speed and volume sliders and the mute, framedrop, fullscreen, and loop buttons work properly when MPlayer is running. Application icons were arranged according to the freedesktop.org specifications.
BG-Rescue Linux is a Busybox and uClibc-based rescue system with a 2.4 series Linux kernel. It supports full read/write support for NTFS using ntfs-3g. It is loaded from two floppy disks, a bootable CD-Rom, or a USB Stick. The system runs entirely in RAM. It supports a wide range of hardware (including SATA and DM/LVM2) and filesystems (including ext2/3, hfs/hfs+, and xfs) and can serve as a full backup/restore system for MS Windows systems which use FAT12/16/32 or NTFS. It also includes many utilities, including strong compresstion tools like lrzip. Automatic loading of the antivirus-program F-Prot from cdrom or usbstick is supported.

m0n0wall is an all-in-one firewall software package that is based on FreeBSD. It is geared towards embedded PCs, but it also works on standard PCs. It is a clone of Big Brother webstats, except that it is written in PHP and it relies only on flat files (no database needed). BBclone enables any Web site administrator to have a very precise view of who visit the website: OS, browser, date, referring page etc. Main features include reload resistance, hostname resolution, proxy workaround, and blacklist.
Release Notes: Extension/country look-up was moved into a plug-in. An over-right feature was added for version detection. Load time can now be displayed on the bottom of each page. Layout was moved to CSS, which means that some configuration parts are now also in CSS.
relax is a program designed for the study of the dynamics of proteins or other macromolecules though the analysis of experimental NMR data.
