Download Website 19 Oct 22:47 Cheix USB Beta 11

Screenshot

The goal of Cheix USB is a Linux image executing from a USB storage device into a running OS, either Linux or Windows, so that the host machine does not have to support booting from the USB device. The root filesystem and boot partitions are read-only to preserve the USB device. All writes are done in a tmpfs. The only writes to the USB storage device are those explicitly made by the user. Cheix's ISO can currently be used to create either a bootable USB or a hard-drive installation.

Avatar

Release Notes: This release introduces a Beta installer ISO file that can be burned to CD. There is also a Beta 11 tarball for hand installation. The ISO image must be booted with the "huge.s" kernel at the boot prompt. The file "INSTALL.cheix" will then be found in the root of the initrd image. This file is also posted to the Web site so that non-English users can access it with online translation services. This Beta 11 release completes the hard-drive simulation phase of the Cheix LongLife USB project. The remaining milestones will target the USB.

No download Website 19 Oct 20:51 Apache MetaModel (incubation) 2.0.2

Screenshot

With MetaModel, you use a type-safe SQL-like API for querying any datastore. It is a data access framework providing a common interface for exploration and querying of different types of datastores. It isn't a data mapping framework. Instead, it emphasizes abstraction of metadata and the ability to add data sources at runtime, making MetaModel great for generic data processing applications, but less so for applications modeled around a particular domain.

Release Notes: The Excel adapter now uses the new Streaming API in Apache POI, which means that support for very large Excel spreadsheets is much better. A bug was fixed that caused CSV writing to not respect the separator and quote character defined for the file format. Performance was improved in query postprocessing by applying sub-selections just-in-time instead of ahead of time. An experimental adapter has been added for MongoDB databases. The adapter supports querying MongoDB using the well known MetaModel query API.
