No download Website 26 Dec 14:18 C-DynaLib 0.61

Screenshot

C-DynaLib is a Perl module that allows Perl programs to call C functions in dynamic libraries. It is useful for testing library functions, writing simple programs without the bother of XS, and generating C function pointers that call Perl code. If you have a C compiler that Perl supports, you will get better results by writing XSubs than by using this module.

Release Notes: This is the initial freshmeat announcement.

Download No website 26 Dec 09:39 Pagekite.py 0.3.7

Screenshot

Pagekite is software to make servers on "localhost" visible to the wider Internet. It can be used by Web developers to show off their works in progress to clients or colleagues, embedded developers who need direct access to devices in the field, or as an alternative to dynamic DNS for individuals/hobbyists who would rather host their own content than rely on 3rd party hosting. It creates and maintains a tunnel between your server on localhost and a remote "front-end" (a reverse proxy). Only the front-end has to have a visible IP address; the server itself can reside on a heavily firewalled computer, a mobile device, or even an anonymous node on the Tor network.

Release Notes: Support was added for websockets and raw back-ends (SSH-after-HTTP). Support was added for back-end selection based on port (not just protocol). An HTTPS routing work-around was added for clients lacking SNI (Windows XP). IP-address logging issues were fixed. Optional SSL encryption of the HTTP console was enabled.

Download Website 26 Dec 09:38 Unicorn 3.2.1

Screenshot

Unicorn is a Unix and LAN/localhost-optimized fork of the Mongrel HTTP server. It takes full advantage of functionality exclusive to Unix-like operating systems. It will reap and restart workers that die from broken apps, and there is no need to manage multiple processes yourself. Load balancing is done entirely by the operating system kernel. Requests never pile up behind a busy worker. The server does not care if your application is thread-safe or not, as workers all run within their own isolated address space and only serve one client at a time. All Rack applications are supported along with pre-Rack versions of Ruby on Rails via a Rack wrapper. It also supports atomic log cycling, nginx-style binary re-execution without losing connections, before_fork and after_fork hooks, and optional copy-on-write-friendly memory management.

Release Notes: There are numerous improvements in the HTTP parser for Rainbows!, none of which affect Unicorn-only users. The kgio dependency was incremented to 2.1: this should avoid ENOSYS errors for folks building binaries on newer Linux kernels and then deploying to older ones.

Finally, the behavior of the "--enable" configure options was changed to be sane.

No download Website 26 Dec 09:20 Morpheus 0.37

Screenshot

Morpheus is a Perl module that implements a configuration engine that completely separates config consumers from config providers. Consumers can obtain configuration values by using this module or the morph script. Configuration values are bound to various nodes in the global configuration tree, similar to a virtual file system. Consumers can ask for any node or for any subtree. Providers are plugins which can populate the configuration tree from any sources, such as local configuration files, configuration database, and the environment. The overall program configuration is merged together from all data provided by plugins.

Release Notes: Tests now use the proper perl binary.

No download Website 25 Dec 06:27 downtimed 0.4

Screenshot

downtimed is a program that monitors operating system downtime, uptime, shutdowns, and crashes and records such events. At OS startup it logs information about previous downtime. It then periodically updates a time stamp file on the disk, which is used to determine the approximate time when the system was last up and running. During a graceful system shutdown, it records a time stamp in another file. The downtimes(1) command line tool can be used to inspect records of past downtime.

Release Notes: This is a bugfix and portability enhancement release. It introduces support for OpenBSD and Debian GNU/kFreeBSD. Backwards lseek(2) was changed to forward lseek(2) to avoid strange bugs on some systems. The downtimed(8) daemon no longer creates its data directory: instead it should be created by the system administrator or package maintainer. There were some minor bug and style fixes.
