UsbCryptFormat is a graphical user interface (GUI) for the encryption of USB flash drives or external hard drives. It allows the user to reformat a USB flash drive, an SD card, or an external hard drive with an encrypted filesystem very easily and without the danger of destroying data on an internal hard drive because of incautious handling of device names. So it is usable even for a layperson.

Release Notes: This release will call "udevadm info" instead of deprecated "udevinfo", and should now work with Ubuntu 9.x and later.

cclive is a lightweight commandline video extraction tool for Youtube and similar video Web sites. It is a rewrite of the clive software in C++ with a smaller system footprint and fewer dependencies. It is primarily a "video download tool", but can be used with video player software like "mplayer" for viewing streamed videos in place of the Adobe flash player.

darktable is a virtual light table and darkroom for photographers. It manages your digital negatives in a database and lets you view them through a zoomable light table. It also enables you to develop raw images and enhance them.

Release Notes: There have been some major changes in the last months. First, the processing backend has been replaced completely, based on an interface that is able to use libgegl. All operations are now encapsulated in run-time loaded plug-ins. Raw reading is now based on LibRaw-0.8. The light table has a slightly different look, and more image operations have been implemented (e.g. luma/chroma denoising).

tmux is a "terminal multiplexer". It allows a number of terminals (or windows) to be accessed and controlled from a single terminal. It is intended to be a simple, modern, BSD-licensed alternative to programs such as GNU screen.

The Drizzle project is building a database optimized for Cloud and Net applications. It is being designed for massive concurrency on modern multi-CPU/core architectures. The code is originally derived from MySQL.

Release Notes: This release has a lot of code clean up. It also features work towards extracting I_S out into plugins. It supports protobuf 2.1, except when using gcc 4.4 or if you are running on Solaris. Work is being done on the gcc 4.4 issue.

get_iplayer allows a user to stream or make recordings of any BBC iPlayer TV (H.264/Quicktime), BBC iPlayer Radio (MP3/AAC/RealAudio), or BBC Podcasts (MP3/AAC). It downloads iPlayer subtitles, metadata, and thumbnails. It has full PVR functionality for automatic searching, queuing, and stream recording. Its plug-in architecture allows third-party channels to be added. Live and embedded iPlayer TV and Radio recording and streaming is also supported. The optional Web PVR Manager allows full PVR searching, recording, and playback support of available and recorded material.

Release Notes: An improved and simplified CDN parser for iPlayer mediaselector data. New iPlayer CDN streams will now mostly be automatically found when added by the BBC. Checks for invalid and deprecated options in options files and presets. iPlayer TV PIDs starting with p0 are recognized. iPhone redirect URL is no longer looked up if iphone is not a selected mode. BBC Radio 4 Long-Wave has been added into the liveradio channel list. There are --rtmplivetvopts and --rtmpliveradioopts options. flvstreamer v1.8b is recommended for better reliability. flvstreamer timeout has been reduced to 10 seconds.

GPX Viewer is a simple program to visualize a GPX file. It uses libchamplain and cairo for the plot. It can show multiple GPX files, show waypoints and multiple tracks per GPX file, highlight a selected track, show a speed vs. time graph, and show distance, duration, average, moving average, max speed, moving time, and GPS points. It supports zooming, smoothing of the speed graph, and highlighting points in a speed graph on a map.

Release Notes: This release writes images to a temporary file first to prevent errors in e.g. Web browsers, and exits with an understandable error message when the device refuses the selected resolution. There are several fixes in color conversions. You can now set owner of image files as they are created, and can now execute a script after a new image is written to disk (to do any post-processing).

Addjob lets you distribute jobs over a network. You just run "addjob-server", and then submit jobs like "addjob gcc -c foo.c". You can still interact with your program via the command line, and exit-codes are preserved, so it integrates well with Makefiles.

Release Notes: This is mainly a maintenance release to bring the software up to date for Ruby 1.9. There have also been minor reliability improvements to accommodate slow NFS systems.

While Performous might be classified as a karaoke program, it is actually much more than that. Instead of just displaying the lyrics, notes are also displayed, and the performance is scored based on how well you actually hit the notes. Unlike in many other games in this genre, you will also see the pitch that you are singing, so you can see what you are doing wrong and easily (well, everything is relative) correct your pitch.

dbus-cxx is a C++ wrapper for dbus that supports introspection and includes a proxy/adapter generator (dbus-cxx-xml2cpp). What differentiates dbus-cxx from other C++ wrappers is that dbus-cxx relies heavily on sigc++ and explicitly exposes the wrapped D-Bus C API.

Release Notes: This release adds support to dbus-cxx-xml2cpp for allowing proxies to multiply inherit virtual interfaces. An example demonstrating how to use this feature can be found in examples/xml2cpp/calculator-interface. Additionally, a few warnings were cleaned up, including one regarding unused values when debugging output is turned off.

Source-highlight-qt is a library for performing syntax highlighting in Qt documents by relying on the GNU Source-Highlight library. It provides an implementation of the Qt abstract class QSyntaxHighlighter class, and it deals both with Qt3 and Qt4, although you will need to build a separate version of the library for the two different Qt framework versions. The Qt3 version has fewer features and it is there only for old Qt applications. Furthermore, the QSyntaxHighlighter class in Qt3 has some design problems which make it quite inefficient to use.

Release Notes: Wide char support now works on Mac OS X. The command line history editor from bsh (also used by the included Bourne Shell) now correctly uses wcwidth() to compute the visible char width (which is needed for Japanese chars). sdd now supports a -md5 option. libxtermcap now correctly checks for octal numbers in \ooo escapes. The termcap compiler now includes much better checks for correct syntax in the termcap entries, as well as checks for correct quoting in string parameters and for correct format specifiers in parameterized strings. Cdrtools was bumped to 2.01.01a61.
