Spack is a standalone package manager with its own CPIO-based package format but aiming to keep total compatibility with Slackware Linux. Written in POSIX shell as much as it makes sense, it attempts to provide a fairly complete toolkit to build, install, remove, list, retrieve, and arrange your packages. It can be used as an alternative to Slackware's pkgtools, just to independently and properly manage your local software on any distribution, or as the main package manager of the distribution you build yourself.

Topal is yet another program that links GnuPG and Pine/Alpine. It offers facilities to encrypt, decrypt, sign, and verify messages. Multiple PGP blocks included in the text of a message are processed by display filters. Decryption and verification output can be cached to reduce the number of times the passphrase is entered. RFC2015/3156 multipart messages can be sent and received. S/MIME messages are supported if gpgsm is available. It can be used as Alpine's sendmail-path command. A remote sending and decryption mode allows email to be read on a remote computer via SSH with secret keys on the local computer.

Release Notes: This release no longer uses an external utility for line-end conversions, which should solve some bad signature problems. A note has been added regarding Alpine's S/MIME message about certificates. The list of recipients is shown just before sending; the idea is to allow the user to spot the "Oh no, I didn't intend to email that person." problem before the email is sent.

Edgar moves 25% faster. The persistence file is now deleted when starting a new game. A problem with some Entities moving into a nonexistent collision grid has been fixed. NetCDF is a format developed at Unidata that was inspired by the CDF format from NASA. NetCDF stands for "Network Common Data Form" and is a self-describing data format, commonly used in scientific and engineering applications.

Release Notes: This release adds optional arguments to the F90 API so that all netCDF-4 settings may be accomplished with optional arguments, instead of separate function calls. It adds control of the HDF5 chunk cache to allow for user performance tuning. It changes default chunking to better handle very large variables. Performance refactoring of core netCDF-4/HDF5 read/write code. Additional parallel I/O tests and benchmarks. Experimental OPeNDAP support based on a new C-only implementation. Improved portability, especially on high-performance platforms.

FSP Client is single executable client for the FSP protocol. FSP Client uses an FTP-like user interface. It feels like FTP, but under the hood it uses FSP. FSP is a UDP-based protocol for transfering files around, and was designed for anonymous archives.

A Swing application is used to customize the doclet and most of the DocBook XSL parameters and to start the transformations.

DIASER is a geo-data replication long-term archive system and WAN vault application. Manage long term mixed data archives generated by existing backup software. Ensure availability using commodity hardware. Retain administrative and financial control. It combines a disk-based backup volume management system and triple redundancy with a storage architecture designed to structure months to years of long term sustainable archiving space. It is a quick and low-cost way to make an environment more robust by backing up data in multiple places. This replication also provides fast retrieval of archived data from all node hosting locations. A Perl installer creates the system. Nodes can be dedicated to storage or used for existing services over unused bandwidth. DIASER works in user space over SSH.

Release Notes: This is the first beta-1 release. The configuration walkthrough has improved input validation. The filling mechanism has been rationalized and is configurable via the command line tools. Its operation has been carefully coded to comply to the design outlined in a flow chart included in the release. All volumes are md5sum checked and dated as they enter DIASER. An emergency lock feature has been implemented as well as a simple archive data retrieval tool with configurable options. All of the above changes have been documented, and new sections added.

GObject Builder (GOB) is a simple preprocessor for easily creating GObjects (glib objects). It reads a class description file with inline C code and produces .c and .h object files for you. It allows you to easily use most of the features of the GObject system and avoids typos by reducing the amount of code needed. In general, the amount of code is about the same as for OO languages such as Java or C++, but you still have to only use C and you get all the power of the GObject system.

It falls in the category of distributed source code management tools and is similar to GNU Arch, Monotone, and BitKeeper. Every Git working directory is a fully-fledged repository with full revision tracking capabilities and is not dependent on network access to a central server.

Release Notes: With the next major release, "git push" into a branch that is currently checked out will be refused by default. You can choose what should happen upon such a push by setting the configuration variable receive.denyCurrentBranch in the receiving repository. To ease the transition plan, the receiving repository of such a push running this release will issue a big warning when the configuration variable is missing.
