The "EeePC-optimized Kernel for Ubuntu" project aims to produce a set of pre-compiled kernel packages that have been specially tailored to the EeePC's hardware and power usage, and to deliver these packages on a dedicated repository hosted by the author. Delivering these kernel packages over a Debian-style repository ensures that future updates and patches can be automatically downloaded to your EeePC as they're released. Current support is available for Ubuntu v8.04 (Hardy Heron) on the EeePC 700, 900, 900A, 901, 1000, and 1000H models.
Release Notes: This version was released to coincide with Ubuntu v8.10 (Intrepid Ibex). This kernel has been upgraded to Linux 220.127.116.11, and now features "eeepc" and "eeepc-lean" build flavors. Other changes include a fixed Bluetooth handle and upgraded ath5k, rt2860, and rtl8187se wireless modules.
safe-rm is intended to prevent the accidental deletion of important files by replacing /bin/rm with a wrapper that checks the given arguments against a configurable blacklist of files and directories that should never be removed. Users who attempt to delete one of these protected files or directories will not be able to do so and will be shown a warning message instead. Protected paths can be set both at the site and user levels.
Release Notes: The main change in this release is a fix for a bug that was preventing the root directory from being added to the list of protected paths. Safe-rm is now able to protect you from the infamous "rm -rf /".

LinkIt is a simple program to validate local links within HTML documents. It tries to check that every referenced local file (another HTML document, an image, or a CSS entry) exists and is accessible. The checking is performed recursively, and all reachable documents are checked. When the referenced local file doesn't exist, the program reports the filename, row, and column where the broken reference is located.
PBZIP2 is a parallel implementation of the bzip2 block-sorting file compressor that uses pthreads and achieves near-linear speedup on SMP machines. The output of this version is fully compatible with bzip2 1.0.2 or newer (ie: anything compressed with PBZIP2 can be decompressed with bzip2).
Release Notes: The ability to compress, decompress, and test data using stdin and pipes is now supported. Support was also added to directly decompress files without using threads when files are small, the system only has 1 CPU, or if the .bz2 file contains 1 bzip2 stream. This version can now compress 0 byte files like bzip2. Support for pbzcat symlink to automatically specify a decompression mode to stdout, just like bzcat, is now included.

The aim is to support file transfer routines via client server implementation as with brutal copy (bcp), and make it a widely used encryption application for Unix.
Surf Canyon accelerates the search experience on Google, Yahoo!, and Microsoft Live Search by enabling you to find relevant information buried in the search results. Employing advanced search technology, the application determines what you want and then goes as deep as page 100 of the result set to fetch it. It also supports Craigslist, including image previews. It is available as an add-on extension for Firefox 2 and Firefox 3 as well as a plug-in for Internet Explorer (IE6 and IE7). The application learns as you search to filter your results.

Cairo is a vector graphics library with cross-device output support. It currently supports the X Window System and in-memory image buffers as output targets. It is designed to produce identical output on all output media while taking advantage of display hardware acceleration when available (eg. through the X Render Extension). It provides a stateful user-level API with capabilities similar to the PDF 1.4 imaging model and provides operations including stroking and filling Bezier cubic splines, transforming and compositing translucent images, and antialiased text rendering.
Release Notes: It is now possible to build Cairo without any font backend, which is most useful when the application provides custom font rendering through the user-font API. A failsafe fallback font is provided, though. Several compilation speed-ups and optimizations were made. Many bugs were fixed.
Steel Bank Common Lisp is a development environment for Common Lisp, with excellent support for the ANSI standard: garbage collection, lexical closures, powerful macros, strong dynamic typing, incremental compilation, and the famous Common Lisp Object System (multimethods and all). It also includes many extensions, such as native threads, socket support, a statistical profiler, programmable streams, and more. These are all available through an integrated, interactive native compiler which feels like an interpreter. SBCL is unique in being a multiplatform native compiler which bootstraps itself completely from source, using a C compiler and any other ANSI Common Lisp implementation.

This allows saved executables to fully customize their own commandline processing. A new commandline argument --script has been added, which supports shebang lines.
paexec distributes performing the given tasks (stdin) across several CPUs or machines in a network.
