AcpiTool is a Linux ACPI client. It's a small command line application, intended to be a replacement for the apm tool. The primary target audience are laptop users, since these people are most interested in things like battery status, thermal status and the ability to suspend (sleep mode). The program simply accesses the /proc/acpi or /sysfs entries to get or set ACPI values. A computer running a Linux kernel from the 2.4.x or 2.6.x series with ACPI enabled is needed. It also supports various extensions for Toshiba, Asus, and IBM Thinkpad laptops.

Release Notes: Fan control was added to the Toshiba ACPI extensions. The manpage was updated. Some embarrassing typos were fixed.

libjio is a C library to do journaled, transaction-oriented I/O. It provides a UNIX-like set of file operation functions (such as open, read, and write), which are wrapped in a transaction framework, so that file operations can be committed or rolled back as necessary. It is non-intrusive, atomic, and thread-safe, with fast crash recovery.

Release Notes: Transaction checksums were implemented. Read and write locks were split. Lingering transactions were added. Several additional measures to guarantee data integrity are now taken.

Bogofilter is a Bayesian spam filter. In its normal mode of operation, it takes an email message or other text on standard input, does a statistical check against lists of "good" and "bad" words, and returns a status code indicating whether or not the message is spam. Bogofilter is designed with fast algorithms (including Berkeley DB system), coded directly in C, and tuned for speed, so it can be used for production by sites that process a lot of mail.

Release Notes: The format placeholders have changed again. %I is now the Message-ID (the IP address is now printed by %A) and %Q is the queue ID. Several build/check bugs have been fixed. The obsolete -f, -g, and -r options have been removed from bogofilter. Bugs in handling multiple wordlists have been fixed. The documentation has been updated.

PerlPrimer is a GUI application that designs primers for standard PCR, bisulphite PCR, real-time PCR (QPCR), and sequencing. It aims to automate and simplify the process of primer design. Current features include calculation of possible primer-dimers, retrieval of genomic or CDNA sequences from Ensembl (including both sequences automatically for QPCR), the ability to BLAST search primers using the NCBI server, ORF, and CpG island detection algorithms, the ability to add cloning sequences to primers, automatically adjusted to be in-frame, and QPCR primer design without manual intron-exon boundary entry.

Release Notes: This release fixes a number of small bugs concerning opening sequences and the display of Bisulphite and Sequencing primers.

NetSQUID is a Perl script (daemon) that sits in between Snort and IPTables. It gathers alerts generated by Snort, then automatically creates an IPTables firewall entry to block the alerting host (such as those infected by viruses). Web traffic is redirected to a Web server that can alert the user to the infection. The host is automatically unblocked after a specified time. It can also send DHCP address requests, so rogue DHCP servers can be detected by Snort.

Release Notes: There are a few minor changes and some code cleanup. DNS rules to also allow TCP for things like zone transfers and hosts with large DNS records have been added.

The CIFS VFS is a virtual file system for Linux to allow access to servers and storage appliances compliant with the SNIA CIFS specification version 1.0 or later.

Release Notes: Many bugfixes and enhancements. The CIFS VFS now passes most POSIX tests attempted to Samba servers (and some to Windows servers) from CIFS VFS on Linux 2.4 clients. Support has been added for mknod of devices/FIFOs. Performance of file creation has been greatly improved. Port 139 (Netbios-over-TCP) is improved (allowing limited support for NT4 servers, not just Windows 200x, Samba, etc.). Per-mount statistics have been added. The mount.cifs helper is improved, and supports new optional features such as suid mounts and credential files.

The SRR Module (srripc) is a synchronous message-passing module for the Linux kernel versions 2.2.x, 2.4.x, and 2.6.x. This module provides synchronous message passing among processes and threads, queued asynchronous event notification (proxies), timed delivery of proxies and signals, triggering of proxies between tasks, and user-space interrupt handling. Synchronous message passing is a fast, flexible, and robust IPC mechanism, particularly useful for building modular systems. The SRR Module installs automatically and provides an API that allows for porting of applications between QNX and Linux.

Release Notes: Fixes to support 2.6 kernels with work tasks instead of tasklets. Tasklets cannot be used because they cause their bottom half handlers to run at interrupt time, which is a race. All code relating to tasklets has been removed.

It can be extended with custom control plug-ins. AJAX based form submission, upload monitor progress bar, auto-complete text input, automatic layout renderer, calendar date, CAPTCHA, Google Maps world location selection, linked select, and animation effects plug-ins are available.

Release Notes: Support for button input types was added for completeness. The custom input base class provides a default implementation of setting the Format, SubForm, and Accessible properties to reduce the effort of implementing new custom input classes. MultiLingual Text Editor has standard text editor functions such as cut, copy, paste, format, etc. It also converts one language into another. Note that conversion is different from translation. It can also support Hindi and Telugu fonts, one at a time. It has support for English, Hindi, and Telugu, and conversion support for Hindi to Telugu and vice-versa. Qt was used extensively. Shusha and TTL_hemalatha fonts are also used for implementation purposes.

Scilab is a numerical computation system similiar to Matlab or Simulink. Scilab includes hundreds of mathematical functions, and programs from various languages (such as C or Fortran) can be added interactively. It has sophisticated data structures (including lists, polynomials, rational functions, and linear systems), an interpreter, and a high-level programming language. Scilab has been designed to be an open system where the user can define new data types and operations on these data types by using overloading. A number of toolboxes are available with the system.

Release Notes: The new object-oriented graphics were improved and are now standard. For instance, 3D surfaces are taken into account, 2D plots can be mapped into 3D plots, and there is a graphics editor to modify the properties of the objects. The Matlab to Scilab converter has been completely rewritten and improved. The Windows version is much faster and more stable, and the Linux version may be built using GTK 2. Other features include a new and fast implementation of hypermatrices, a library of 1D, 2D, and 3D interpolation functions, and improvements to Scipad.

Release Notes: This release is focused on performance and scalability. Some of the new features are support for replicated databases, a new faster page tree system, template caching, and a whole new internationalization and help system. Overall, most users should notice that pages load around 2 times faster than before. Administrators will notice that WebGUI processes use slightly less memory, but more of the memory is shared. Also, administrators will have a much easier time scaling WebGUI up to support very large sites.
